Celilo Falls

Overview #

Celilo Falls was the end of a month-long Since Time Immemorial curriculum for 4th graders. Students examined the historic, environmental, and cultural impact of the descructions of Celilo Falls for the creation of the Dalles Dam. The culminating project had them listen to Joy Harjo, Poet Laureate, as she recited her poem “Remember.” Students were then given a stanza from the poem to create a piece of artwork they felt fit.
